Uaq Ramadan Cup Season 1


Brothers Gas CC defeated Iconic CC by five wickets to emerge champions of the UAQ Ramadan Cup Season 1 organized by the Umm Al Quwain Cricket Club.

The tournament was held under the supervision of the Emirates Cricket Board and played under the auspices of the Ajman Cricket Council and Domestic Cricket Development Committee.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Iconic CC had a terrible start with four wickets falling in quick succession. Only Joseph James remained calm as he scored a useful 31 from 21 balls with the help of four boundaries and two sixes.

Fahad Tariq smashed eight-ball 18 including a boundary and two sixes while Fawad Gafoor hit a brilliant 43 from 28 deliveries supported by four hits to the fence and two over it to give Iconic CC some stability.

Irfan Arif (27, 29b, 3x4) and Farhan Baber (20, 10b, 5x4) provided some late entertainment as Iconic CC achieved a challenging 162 before being all out in 20 overs.

Azhar Mohammad was the wrecker in chief for Brothers Gas CC as he claimed five wickets in his four overs giving away only 11 runs.

In reply, Brothers Gas CC also did not have the best of the starts but Fahem Shafique and Abid Jutt top scored with a 39 each to liven up Brothers Gas CC’s chase. While Faheem Shafique took 29 balls including three boundaries and two sixes, Abid Jutt faced 24 balls studded five boundaries and two sixes.

Tanvir Ahmed remained unbeaten till the end scoring a 23-ball 31 studded with a boundary and two sixes while Azhar Mohammad chipped in with 26 off 20 balls to ensure Brothers Gas CC posted 163 for five in 19.5 overs.
