Spring T20 League – Season 1

Al Badar CC lift UAQ’s Spring T20 League

UMM AL QUWAIN:

A fine allround show from Leon Carlo ensured Al Badar Cricket Club defeated Mangalore Cricket Club clinched the Spring T20 League – Season 1 organized by the Umm Al Quwain Cricket Club.

The tournament was held under the supervision of the Emirates Cricket Board and played under the auspices of the Ajman Cricket Council and Domestic Cricket Development Committee.

Winning the toss and batting first, Jarnail Singh looked poised as he batted fluently while wickets fell at the other end.

Singh smashed a 35-ball 57 supported by nine boundaries and two sixes.

But with none of the other top order batsmen coming good, there was tension in the team before Leon Carlo came to Al Badar Cricket Club’s rescue.

His brilliant 28-ball 43 including three boundaries and two sixes ensured Al Badar Cricket Club managed to reach a fine 179 for seven in 20 overs.

Hassan Nasir (19, 18b) and Sarinder Kumar (20 not out, 11b, 4x4) were the others to contribute.

For Mangalore Cricket Club, Shantharam Manai claimed three wickets.

Chasing a challenging target, Mangalore Cricket Club had a relatively decent start with opener Ahsan Awan (11) and Mohamed Rafeek (15) making small contributions.

But wickets fell at regular interval and the efforts of Asif Ahmad and Sharfuddin Moosa also did not offer much help as Mangalore Cricket Club could muster only 124 for nine in 20 overs.

Asif Ahmad scored a 22-ball 23 including four boundaries while Sharfuddin Moosa chipped in with a quickfire 15-ball 25 thanks to three boundaries and a six.

Saqib Khan, Leon Carlo and Zahiruddin Aslam claimed two wickets each for Al Badar Cricket Club.
